Once upon a time [March of 2012], friends and protagonists of a like-minded cause, Janey Criss and Jessi Monroe, stole three days from their lives of post-wizardry and fashioning, of sorts, in order to conduct a musical writing experiment. The result was an assuming product for the formulaic concoction at hand: boisterous synths, curious minors, acoustic elements, playful rhythms and thick, resolute vocals. Shortly following the experiment, Alec Yeager was invited to add thoughtful battery to the equation. Logistics were discussed. And VYIE became.

Goodnight Buffalo are releasing "Back & Fill" HERE at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, November 2nd, 2012.

It’s a rarer and rarer experience in popular music to find a band that sounds at once emotionally inspired and familiar in a way that feels like home. That Atlanta’s Goodnight Buffalo embodies both of these traits comes through as certain even seconds into any of their songs. Anthemic while also earnest, intimate in a way that fills a room, it seems clear that here’s a band designed to spread its sound over the world.

Sick/Sea here at The Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, October 31st, 2012.

Imagine a sequestered town at the southern brink of the Lone Star State whose townsfolk claim as much cultural heritage from the bordering country as they do from their own. A place that seems contradictory being such a small town in the largest of U.S. states. It is in this setting that the emerging band, Sick/Sea finds its roots. While their hometown might be small, the music from the Magic Valley is anything but little. The tight-knit music community found there is making waves that are flowing out past the edges of Texas, spilling into the south at large. Several critically acclaimed groups hail from the area and Sick/Sea is a part of the growing current.

A Place To Bury Strangers are performing here on Tuesday, October 30th

is presenting:

A Place To Bury Strangers here at The Drunken Unicorn on Tuesday, October 30th, 2012.

A Place To Bury Strangers have often been called "the loudest band in New York". This may very well be the case, but unlike much so-called "loud" rock and roll that's out there, APTBS is not loud simply for the sake of it. The sonically overdriven sound they've accomplished is no clumsy accident, but a carefully cultivated and well-maintained entity all its own, fostered by an unbridled passion that's clearly evident in every live show they play and each recording they make. A Place To Bury Strangers does not so much play songs as allow them to pour out. They are songs about longing, heartbreak and confusion played extremely well and at a passionately loud volume.

A Place To Bury Strangers on Facebook

Bleeding Rainbow will be performing before A Place To Bury Strangers.

Nevermind the constant threat of a cease and desist letter, when Carrie Brownstein tells you that your band name is weak, you change it. But it isn't as simple as a name change for Philadelphia's minimal noise pop duo Reading Rainbow, significant line up additions facilitated the adoption of a new moniker. So...drum roll please...as we reintroduce Philadelphia's Bleeding Rainbow, now a full-blown, Brownstein-approved, rock quartet. The name better represents the band's evolving sound and is all around more badass and trippy as sh*t. The founding members, Sarah Everton, who moved from drums to bass to give her vocals a better chance to shine, and vocalist/guitarist Rob Garcia are now joined by Al Creedon on lead guitar and drummer Greg Frantz.
