Secret Cities perform at the Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, June 23rd

Secret Cities are performing at the Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, June 23rd

"The percussive chamber-pop on Pink Graffiti hits hard and rarely lets up during its breathless 41-minute runtime... 86%"
-Filter Magazine

"...intimate and immediately likable...It gets better and better the more you listen to it."
-Stereogum

"This is a debut with some legs that could climb stairs two at a time. It's got a stride that could get to the top of the mountain... the church of Brian Wilson will gush over the textural details."
-Impose Magazine

"[B]and camp compadres MJ Parker and Charlie Gokey, alongside drummer Alex Abnos, have created an experimental and wildly inventive sound... Pink Graffiti is one of those intriguing listens that begs to be repeated."
-SLUG Magazine

"As captured on this forty-minute collection, the group's pop sounds raw, kaleidoscopic, and elemental yet is often powerfully affecting too."
-Textura

"Fucking awesome... Everybody should love it. I don’t know what else to tell you. Listen to it, for God’s sake."
-Delusions of Adequacy

"Secret Cities establish themselves with this album as something quite different but phenomenally good... innovative and bold... a truly fantastic album, which has earned a permanent place on my iPod...4.5/5 stars"
-Battlemouth

Imagination Head are performing second.

"Imagination Head live performances consist of a wealth of entertainment: impromptu product placement commercials, TV heads, cakewalks, even a funhouse (complete with dream research, curtain mazes, creepy clowns, a stenographer, glass eaters, and crude oil drinking). Needless to say, the band lives to entertain their audience." -Adam Herrington, Mule Magazine, Chicago

Formed in Memphis, TN in 2004 (J.R. and Erin Wicker) moved to Atlanta, GA in 2007 and gathered up two more fine musicians (Vince Gray and Dave Gunter). Imagination Head LOVES to perform. They are currently working on their second album.

Their fist album, The Stale and Sparkly Air, was released in August of 2006.

"the group's debut disc puts the focus squarely on Wicker's songs-rambling, hilarious, acerbic gems that owe debts to everyone from Dylan to Conor Oberst but that mark Wicker as one of the most original writing voices in town"
Mark Jordan-Commercial Appeal--------

Lacuna M are the openers.

Lacuna M are the band that was formerly known as Wighat.

"The genre-bending musical menagerie formerly known as Wighat was born in early 2006 to singer/frontperson Rubi Cuautle and drummer P. I. Navarro. Guitarist Josh Cochran, bassist Chris Blaisc, and multi-instrumentalist David Fountain round out the eclectic line-up. Lacuna M strives to make each of their compositions as collaborative as possible in order to come up with new sounds and song structures. Their live shows build upon an electric tension between harmony and dissonance, and this energy has steadily drawn larger and larger audiences." - Scrappy Street Team

Like Clockwork plays a special show on Saturday, June 19th

Like Clockwork is performing at the Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, June 19th

"Something old. Something new. That's the critical musical balance behind Like Clockwork: an odyssey of sound, mind, spirit and poetic lyricism from the chaotic, yet diametrically romantic mind of Jesse Owen Astin."

Up and coming LA based producer Jesse Owen Astin is in Atlanta for this weekend. It's been a couple of years since Like Clockwork has played in Atlanta.

Michael Greenwald is performing second.

Michael Greenwald is your mom's favorite singer/songwriter. As well as your girlfriends, your sisters, and your boyfriends. His wide appeal and accessibility has made him a favorite of anyone he has come in contact with. On his first full length album, Michael displays a wide range of songs and emotions. Everything from envy to guilt to happiness to sadness can be experience while listening to this album. Michael Greenwald has entertained fans all across the metro Atlanta area with his witty banter, his entertaining songs, and his rugged good looks. The album began as an acoustic e.p. but soon took on a life all it's own. Accompanied by some of his best friends and most talented musicians in Atlanta, Michael went to work. Blaze Bateh of 23jinx supplied the percussion, William Brookshire of 23jinx and Atlanta hip-hop artist David Fierman dominated the bass, Richard Miron of Seussical the Musical played the keys, and Jesse Astin masterfully played lead guitar. Jesse also produced the album, making it his first full length project. Michael has been receiving a warm response about the album, and is happy with the outcome. He has been quoted as saying "This shit rocks... hard... real hard." Never at a loss for words, Michael Greenwald will surely be writing music and making great albums for years to come, and he only hopes that you and your girlfriend/boyfriend, mother/father, and sister/brother will continue to enjoy his music.

Stereo Then Video is opening.

I created Stereo Then Video as a way to be honest with myself in ways I wasn't used to. Originally I was going to make an albums worth of beats and get other people, rappers and singers, to perform their lyrics over them. A "production" album if you will. But I quickly realized I wasn't into the idea.

Every beat I would come up with wound up being something I would rather hear my own voice and my own lyrics on. In the same process I found myself working with Austin Gaines on the beats and many times he would help cut the vocals. I realized that I had something that was bigger and more special than a production album. It wasn't some solo effort that was a shallow attempt at self promotion, it was a living breathing piece of art. My only goal was and is to create something that is so huge, so inspired that people can't help but pay attention.

Withered are playing on Friday, June 18th

Withered are performing at the Drunken Unicorn on Friday, June 18th

Withered, formed in 2003, exists to explore the darker aspects of human existence and deliver it to the masses while exemplifying unbridled truths about human nature. From the exploration of coping with tragedy to theoretical philosophical approaches, withered continues to push their boundaries of perception into a realm of solitude and raw introspective discovery. They have released two full length albums, memento mori (2005 - lifeforce) and folie circulaire (2008 - prosthetic), which have both been critically acclaimed and topped numerous year end and decade end lists. Withered mixes a blackened atmosphere with the weight of doom metal & old school Scandinavian death metal to culminate a unique blend of extreme styles and expression. Their third full length is due late 2010 for another testament to their ever growing edification of what truly lies within the human animal and how culture & society have greatly compromised humanity's potential to an extent of irreversible demise.

Mona Mur is performing second.

MONA MUR, vocalist in her own category, created together with Alexander Hacke, FM Einheit and Mark Chung (all of EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN) a couple of 80s undergroundhits such as "Snake", "120 Tage" or "Eintagsfliegen". A violently neo-expressionist sound of darkest shades and concerts in manic intensity and morbid slowbeat-chic were foundation stones for her cult image in the international avantgarde music scene until today. Other collaborators include´ "The Stranglers", "Yello" and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. Her songs are to be found in movies such as Fatih Akin's much acclaimed drama "Head On/Gegen die Wand". In 2009 she released the CD "120 Tage - The Fine Art of Beauty & Violence" with EN ESCH on PALE MUSIC Int.

In 1999 Mona joined the Computer Games Industry as audio artist for software developer TERRATOLS. She created a unique style of eerie and haunting electronic music and Sound FX. Her work can be found in games such as BALLANCE (ATARI USA/Japan 2006, awarded "Seal of Excellence" in Adrenaline Vault), the Sci-Fi-Adventure "CULPA INNATA 2-Chaos Rising" or the apocalyptic 3rd person shooter "VELVET ASSASSIN" (Replaystudios/SouthPeak 2009/UBISOFT JAPAN 2009).
