"Crawling Up The Stairs" is the second LP from Austin, Texas’ Pure X. Cinema Novo are performing here on Friday, May 17th

Cinema Novo are performing here at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, May 17th, 2013.

Cinema Novo began as a recording project of guitarist Christopher Richardson. After several years writing and recording arrangements for a large band proved unfruitful, Christopher brought in drummer Shawn Moeckly and stripped-down an original collection of songs to be recorded and performed as a duo, with electric guitar and drums.

Hail The Titans will be the second performer of the evening.

“Hail the Titans? More like Fail the Titans!” That quote isn’t from a heckler in the back of the room at a Hail the Titans show; it’s from one of the band members. Which one? Good question. It could have been any of them, really. While the band takes their music seriously, they don’t necessarily take themselves that way.

The Palace Wolves will be performing before Pompeya.

Its a long story, but here is the short of it. Awesome happened a while back, then disrepair and guilt. Soon hope came around, along with some dollar bills and life is now how it should be, minus some more dollar bills.

Slowriter will be the first performer of the evening.

It begins with a sound, a simple noise creeping through a headset. Bryan Taylor becomes obsessed with the tone, putting it on a loop. Beats and melodies are pillars on a computer screen, rising and falling, eight and sixteen bar phrases utilized as texture. The pattern emerging is the map to follow, each rhythm a new course to embark on. Before all this there was feedback, and guitars smashed and flung in front of audiences, there was two years of The Chariot.
