Wowser Bowser is headlining the Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, February 16th

Wowser Bowser will be headlining the Drunken Unicorn on Wednesday, February 16th, 2011.

"There isn't a great deal we can tell you about Wowser Bowser. We could regale you with a short story involving Mario and a drunken hit and run attack on the most evil character in Video Game history but it would all be lies (we hope).

The band, based off the three tracks currently residing on their Myspace page, definitely hint at a love affair between indie and well constructed pop, but with wonderfully subtle changes of pace. Those twists and turns are definitely present in 'Water Story', which you can download below.

The track was recently featured in the Den Friends compilation; a nineteen track monster showcasing the best of Georgia, and is worth getting your hands on. If they produce more tracks like 'Water Story' they could really be onto something special." - The 405

Qurious are the second performer of the evening.

"I finally gave a listen to Atlanta duo Qurious‘ new record, Planet Plant, which was released digitally for free via Double Phantom Digital in September, and I’m totally hearting it. Sonically, it’s sort of in High Place/Zola Jesus territory, spacey dream pop, but much more experimental and ambient. I’ve got a feeling I’ll be playing the hell of this record for the rest of the year, so be sure to get yourself a copy and do the same." - Ohmpark

Backseat Dreamer is the opener.

"Sean Neuse A.K.A. Backseat Dreamer is finally dropping his début album, ‘‘The Colors of Dreams, They’re In You’ today!

Setting himself apart from Dreamwave, ElectroPop and Indie-Electro buy creating a hybrid of all three, mixed up in a Shoegaze style wall of (melodic synth) sound finished off with some floating, introspective vocals, Backseat Dreamer is a definite listen for fans of any of the three styles.

The album is a personal affair with intricately programmed rhythms and emotive vocals, if it wasn’t for the lush sound I would call it Bedroom Pop, but it feels slightly grander than that. Contradictorily grant yet, very raw and D.I.Y." - Electronic Rumors
