Black Sheep Ensemble here at The Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, August 10th, 2013.
The Black Sheep Ensemble is a collection of street musicians and performance artists. Together, we create a high energy, roving party. Our goal is to create situations that breed excitement, allow people to be spontaneous, to become part of the show. The music is brass and percussion based, with an emphasis on the low end. Our songs are mostly originals or unique arrangements influenced by Balkan, Bollywood, Romani, Latin, Ska, and Hip Hop rhythms. You can dance to it.

The Octopus Project has been releasing joyous party music since 2002, all the while touring the world both on their own and as handpicked support for artists as diverse as Aesop Rock, DEVO, and Explosions in the Sky. They've earned a reputation as a band that creates exceptional experiences through elaborate multimedia experiments, lavish album packaging, and the intensity of their extremely fun, extremely loud live shows.
The Purkinje Shift are performing before The Octopus Project.
The Purkinje Shift was active from 1996-2000. During that time Scott Robbins played drums. We have now reformed with Lee Corum on drums. It will be a big, mathy party.
Jeffrey Bützer & The Bicycle Eaters will be starting the show.
Old televisions screening work from auteurs, dangling scissors, and an otherwise intricate set make up Jeffrey Bützer’s stage. Without even hearing his music, it becomes obvious that the musician is indebted to the cinema.
Cicada Rhythm will be the third performer of the evening.
Born and raised in Georgia, this talented pair imitates and modernizes folk music to a rejuvenating degree. Their sound exhibits skilled and articulate guitar picking honed in the dive bars of Atlanta over rolling Julliard-trained bass lines. Expect chilling harmonies, unbridled enthusiasm, some wholesome tunes and a sincere performance.

Est 2009. Starboarders hope the music makes life better. Even if just for a moment. Without anyone listening, this is all kind of pointless. So, welcome to our story. Matt will be performing a special solo set.
Quirky, eclectic Karina Mia takes the stage with catchy tunes and whimsical wordplay that is all at once creative, honest and raw. The singer-songwriter's soulful voice follows in the footsteps of neo-retroists Adele and Amy Winehouse, while maintaining an Ingrid Michaelson-esque sound all of her own.
