Pol-B is performing here on Thursday, August 4th

Pol-B is performing at the Drunken Unicorn on Thursday, August 4th

Pol-B brings an interesting mix of his New York flow with a touch of southern swagger. With musical influences that include Jay-Z and Raphael Saadiq you feel the strong punch lines of a lyricist beyond his years combined with the musicality of a soul pioneer, elements that are sure to keep each of his songs flowing through your mind with ease.

Pol-B is an artist with a story – not dressed up with delusions of grandeur, but real enough to reach everyone. When he began working on the Clocked Out mix tape, he was working a 9-to-9 job, where devoting time to his music became less and less possible. “I basically took 3 months off of work and went into the studio to focus on nothing but my music. I took a step down in my corporate position to pursue my passion,” said Pol-B. “I called it ‘Clocked Out’ because I essentially clocked out of a job and clocked into my passion. We all have passion we pursue, but we have to work to keep food on the table for our families. I find that balance on a daily basis.”

PlanetRAWK!!!! is performing second.

Named after Afrika Bambaataa's hit song Planet Rock, Charlie Ahanotu dares to be different and not portray the ignorance shown on B.E.T. or other hip hop shows. This is only the beginning.

KontraBand Muzik start the event.

KontraBand Muzik is a five-piece band that seamlessly blends hip-hop, rock, and funk music at full speed in a style coined “Mash-Up” Music. They’ve been referred to as “a musical tsunami” by NUVO Music Magazine, described as a “Sonic mixed drink” through the eyes of Intake Weekly, and bring a flavor that continues to attract a diverse following by easily meshing with any style of music or artist.

Lead singer of the renowned group “The Franchize," Nate Davis released his solo album and began touring with Mark Steele/DJ Unorthodox (also of The Franchize), drummer Leon "Quiksticks" Kittrell, string prodigy John Souki (or simply "Souki"), and later added bass phenom Jeremy "The Professor" Taylor, creating “KontraBand Muzik”. The new line-up's career highlights include sharing a stage with such artists as Usher, Mary Mary, Bo Diddly, Jonathon Butler, Bone Thugs ‘N’ Harmony, Stone Temple Pilots, and most recently, Ludacris, at the world famous Playboy Mansion, hosted by Kendra, Holly, and Bridgette from “E” Entertainment Channel’s, “The Girls Next Door”.
