Nigredo is returning to the Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, June 16th

is presenting:

Nigredo here at The Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, June 16th, 2012.

"Last decade's waves of post-rock held Mogwai and Godspeed sacred and referenced Radiohead-style shimmer and clarity. It may not be fair, then, to call a recent crop of bands, including Atlanta's Nigredo, by that title. In their pantheon are dark, moody bands like Isis. Yes, the material is still epic with heavy emotional overtones, but the focus on triumph is gone. Nigredo tends toward a balance of punishing, mid-tempo crunch and disquieting ambience. Their ghostly guitar phrases build to plaintive howls, and they command vivid imagery without resorting to vocals." — Corbie Hill / Indyweek.com

North will be performing before Nigredo.

The Southwest is a vast desert; pitch black at night and void of most life. It is this environment that birthed North. Based out of Tucson, Arizona, NORTH is a dark and aggressive metal band that balances the experimental flare of post-rock with the heaviness and gloom of sludge metal.
