Cody Marlowe is headlining the Drunken Unicorn on Friday, March 16th, 2012.
Cody Marlowe is a talented singer-songwriter from the small town of Clermont, Georgia. He plays guitar, piano, and harmonica leading as the front man of his Atlanta-based, roots rock, band.
Best Brothers Band are performing before Cody Marlowe.
The Best Brothers bands journey began in the winter of 2009 as they recorded their first demo. Jan 2010 found the group back in the studio, creating what are sure to be hits, Play with Fire and This is what is Feels Like. Minor lilts mixed with haunting harmonies, poignant lyrics and a chorus that will make you move and sing along are just a few reasons why these songs make you stop and listen.

Memes who are performing on Wednesday, March 14th here at The Drunken Unicorn.
Mike sings, plays a guitar and a sampler.
Matt plays some sort of guitar, and some other things, and sings sometimes.
Rene plays the hell out of some drums.
Daymoths is a two-piece pop-rock ensemble from the Twin Cities, Minnesota featuring Emily Dantuma on piano/organs and vocals and Ollie Dodge on drum kit and vocals.
This most recent endeavor in their careers has brought them to a stripped down, spacious sound. It is easy on the ears, but still carries hints of the edgy, experimental perspectives these two have become known for in larger bands throughout the past decade as members of Vox Vermillion, Company Inc., and Mr. Mustachio.
Sentimental, but not overly fluffed or cheesed out, solid groovable beats hold down driving piano riffs and meaty organ tones while Dantuma’s sweet serenade becomes a sirens wail at just the right moment.
Pink Pompeii was a song about spilling pink paint on ants.
That song was written by cellist/vocalist Nan Kemberling when she was in the acoustic duo “Da Dum” with guitarist/vocalist Rob Gal.
During the time that Pink Pompeii was a song, Rob Gal was also in the band, “The Holland Dutch,” with guitarist/vocalist Courtney King and Nan went on an orchestral tour in China. When Nan came back, she and Rob wanted to change Da Dum from an acoustic duo to an electronic dance rock trio, as is often the case in similar situations. They asked Courtney to join them in this endeavor and she consented. It was at that time the three decided to multi-purpose the name Pink Pompeii to include their new ensemble as well the established song title.
Nan’s songwriting has not been limited to the song Pink Pompeii, in fact she is a prolific songwriter. Courtney never lets the fact that she didn’t write Pink Pompeii slow her down for even a moment. She too incessantly puts the pen to paper and between her and Ms. Kemberling, the music spews like hot lava from the very mouth of Mount Vesuvius.
Mr. Gal’s role in all this is that of instrumentalist and co-arranger. After all, he has been a producer, engineer and musician for decades.
Above all, each Pink Pompeiilian is a born entertainer determined to “bring it” to the people at every chance. The band is well groomed in every sense of the word and proud of it!
Wolves & Jackals will be performing before Demonaut.
Wolves & Jackals is a destructive, unrelenting force preparing for the apocalypse that will consume us all. Patrons of God's left hand, they incite the legacy of pain and suffering onto mere mortals. Words spoken through them. The gospel of death.
What do you do when the guys in your other band are on tour with their other "main" bands? You start another band of course!
Primate was taking a break while Bill was off conquering the world with Mastodon and Kevin was assaulting Japan in Brutal Truth and Mike, Shayne and Dave were sitting around bored. Mike said, "hey, so why don't we write a bunch of hardcore songs and play some shows." It sounded like a good idea so we started Shots Fired.
The Casualties here at The Drunken Unicorn on Saturday, March 10th, 2012.
The Casualties are an American street punk band from New York City,[citation needed] formed in 1990. The Casualties members aimed to return to what they viewed as the "golden era" of street punk, embodied by bands such as The Exploited, Charged GBH, which they believed had disappeared by 1985.
Toxic Holocaust are performing before The Casualties.
TOXIC HOLOCAUST mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic punk and metal into his ideal band. Like his influences - Bathory, Venom, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones - TOXIC HOLOCAUST featured blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world. Grind wrapped all of these elements up with a DIY attitude.
"Bukkake Boys are the best hardcore band in Atlanta right now, which I guess isn't say that much, so let me rephrase that; they are one of the top 3 BANDS in Atlanta right now. They are fast, not as fast as Cheeseburger, they are rough, the are gnarly, and they are fucking great (think Reagan Youth). Like all the best hardcore bands of the first wave of hardcore, Bukkake Boys manage to sneak subtle melodies and catchy hooks into the wall of distortion, making their songs memorable and infinitely more listenable than some lame metallic hardcore, or grindcore, or whatever." - Shiny Grey Monotone
Lucy Dreams on Friday, March 9th, 2012 here at The Drunken Unicorn.
"Lucy Dreams' debut full-length, Vivian, finds the group of mostly recent high school grads worshipping the glitch birthed in the broken tape machines, reverb and tremolo that made My Bloody Valentine's Loveless a classic album. With songs such as "Blue Depths," "VHS" and "Death March," the burgeoning Atlanta five-piece combines strong melodies with swirling textures of noise, culminating in a wash of dream-pop excellence that soars far beyond the band's age. A genuine sense of woozy fascination takes hold of the album's true masterpiece, "Realize/Out," which stacks layers of voluptuous, ethereal sounds in a tangled mass of wasted bliss. As captivating as it may be, there's an underlying sense that the group is still seeking its footing. But that's not a problem — not when the group shows off such evocative songwriting, imagination and epic potential with its first offering." - Creative Loafing Atlanta
Hooded Fang will be the second performer of the evening.
Hailing from Toronto, Hooded Fang play upbeat music that is laced with melancholy, lust and memories. Since forming in 2008, the band has shared the stage with luminaries such as The Rural Alberta Advantage, Born Ruffians and Bishop Allen.
Based out of Toronto, Canada, Odonis Odonis came into being in 2010, taking its name from a mate of bandleader, Dean Tzenos, who was unforgettably called Adonis Adonis. Wrapping every song with deep sea reverb and cold fingertips, Odonis Odonis distills the vitals of pop and experimentation.
Oberhofer here at The Drunken Unicorn on Thursday, March 8th, 2012.
When your songs are too big to be contained: form a band. Maybe call it after your family name because you like the way it sounds (shit, if it worked for Bon Jovi then who’s to argue). Record those songs in the basement of your parents house in Tacoma. When that burns down, shake it off and move to New York. Find a new band to play with, start working on a symphony (no really, do it), mix your newfound formal training with the noisy exuberance of youth. Get raucous.
Pond has made three albums, 'Psychedelic Mango' 'Corridors of Blissterday' and 'Frond' with the help of a stellar cast of chums and instrument players. Pond are from Perth, Australia.
Adron on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 here at The Drunken Unicorn.
Adron is the nom de guerre of Adrienne McCann, young singer and songwriter who has been lately rejuvenating the pop music scene in Atlanta, Georgia. Adron seamlessly blends Classical harmony with the playfulness of ‘60s Brazilian Tropicà lia, the earnestness and sentiment of 70's songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Harry Nilsson, and the cerebral sincerity of the hymn song.
Hailing from DC, Pree combines a wide variety of folk instrumentation with electric and digital elements to create a unique sound brimming with layered melodies and contagious energy.
"With no fewer than six members, the band utilizes upright bass, violin, cello, trumpet, clarinet, accordion and drums. Their first album titled "Magnalia Christi" draws from influences ranging gypsy, vaudeville, folk, and jazz. The band remains beautifully ramshackle" - Performer Magazine
Grimes here at the Drunken Unicorn on Monday, March 5th.
"There is a powerful harmony in Grimes. It is a project which is both musical and visual, embodying the arts of 2D, performance, dance, video and sound. Claire Boucher weaves these together to a strong rhythmic effect, “the marriage between the voice of a human and the heartbeat of a machine”" [Bullett Magazine]
Caught in a highly idiosyncratic dialogue between harsh noise, future-leaning electronic music, indie rock signifiers and mainstream pop, Born Gold (formerly GOBBLE GOBBLE) conjures stuttering, blown-out and chopped guitar peals, erratic, bubbling synth arpeggios, crunked-out, sparkling 808 hats and bursts of meticulously processed digital noise. Oh, and hooks, hooks, hooks.
Dog Bite is the brainchild of Atlanta's 22 year old Phil Jones. Jone's bedroom project of sun-baked anthems caught the ears of Yung Turks Records (The XX, Wavves, Gang Gang Dance, Holy Fuck, etc.) and for the past two years Dog Bite has been releasing a steady stream of creepy psychedelic/folk pop songs, gaining praise from taste-maker blogs like Pitckfork and Fader.
Now, Jones has enlisted some of Atlanta's finest to transform Dog Bite into a real rock n' roll force: Featuring Will Fussell of Mood Rings, Stephen Lusce of Red Sea, Woody Shortridge of Balkans and Cameron Gardner of Washed Out, this fresh faced five piece is going to make huge waves in 2012 with their Nirvana-on-acid hooks.
Dog Bite combines all your hopes and dreams, fuses them with grapes and butterflies, and then lays them out on a tray with sliced oranges.
Jack Of Hearts on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 here at The Drunken Unicorn.
Jack of Hearts are a four-piece pop ensemble from Atlanta, GA. Formed in the summer of 2010, this dynamic foursome quickly set to work on their debut album, Hard Feelings, which they recorded at Atlanta’s legendary Doppler studios. Comprised of Will Day (bass/vocals), Omar Ferrer (piano/guitar/vocals) Sarah Wilson (drums/vocals) and David Courtright (guitar/vocals), the band has begun to turn heads with their polished and layered sound, particularly in the largely garage-rock oriented Atlanta music scene.
New Terminus will be the second performer of the evening.
New Terminus is an Atlanta-based rock band with high-powered guitar-driven melodies and stylistic pop sensibilities. The band’s influences vary from Built To Spill and Superchunk to the Pixies and Pinback. Offering captivating melodies, sincere vocals, and exacting musical detail, New Terminus infuses each song with infectious energy.
"Catchy" - For a band, is it the descriptor of doom, or actually a compliment? Does it mean the song writing is concise and interesting, or simply derivative and too familiar? Well, in any event, with Silent and Listen, they hope you won't care. This is a song band, first and foremost.
Wild Child will be headlining the Drunken Unicorn on Thursday, March 1st, 2012.
"I’ll confidently go out on a limb and say that Pillow Talk may very well be named one of 2011's “Best Of” albums. The vocals and harmonies are flawless and gorgeous, the strings are ridiculously catchy and dazzling, the keys add a brilliant substance, and the drums do a fine job at guiding each song (and your feet). This 15-track album is one of anthemic proportions; it's impossible to not sing along. After all is said and done, Wild Child's talent is undeniable." - Indie Shuffle
Faithless Town will be performing before Wild Child.
"Faithless Town sounds like if Roy Orbison, Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, and old Kings of Leon had a bastard child and nobody knows who the father is. The lead singer, Gene Owens, has a vintage quality to his voice that makes their songs sound like 1960s throwbacks dressed up in Wayfarers and skinny jeans."-99.X

Always being a true hip hop fan, I figured it was inevitable that I become an actual artist. I hail originally from Bronx, NY and have been storing away secret raps since I was 12. Currently I live in Atlanta, GA and have decided to take this hip hop thing seriously. My music depicts my life, convictions, mistakes, insecurities, and my triumphs. I believe in being honest and baring my soul through my music, making it more of my therapy. I ask that you enjoy my music and critique it if need be. My aim is to be the best all-around artist I can be so feel free.
