Rebel Diaz is hosting a benefit for the Raza Defense Fund here at The Drunken Unicorn on Thursday, November 8th, 2012.



With roots in Chicago and now based in the South Bronx, NY, Rebel Diaz has also piqued the interest of the academic community with their poignant social commentary and energetic performances. They have spent the last four years visiting dozens of colleges and universities, facilitating workshops, speaking on panels, and performing at national conferences.

Contraverse are performing before Rebel Diaz.



Forged out of the fading underground hip hop movement, The ContraVerse is a project rooted in the independent era. These wordsmiths employ a focus on rhyme-schemes and lyrical content while drawing influences from golden age pioneers such as, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde and The Roots.

Yamin Semali of Clan Destined will be the second performer of the evening.



Clan Destined member/social activist/studying electrical engineer, Yamin has produced for the likes of Binkis Recs, Stacy Epps, Eddie Meeks, Broady Champs, Cannibal Ox, Chyle MC, Ozy Reigns, Sum Majere, Malkovich, and more.

The Raza Defense Fund

was formed to assist Sean Arce and Jose González as they are currently being sued under the false premise of “defamation” by John Ward, former Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) teacher.



Tucson Mexican American Studies (MAS) responsive community educators, Sean Arce and Jose González, are currently being sued under the false premise of “defamation” by John Ward, former Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) teacher.

The Raza Defense Fund was founded to raise funds for Sean Arce and Jose González for their legal defense.
