Performer Magazine Presents Sons Of Tonatiuh record release show on Friday, July 9th

Performer Magazine presents Sons Of Tonatiuh debut full length LP release show at the Drunken Unicorn on Friday, July 9th.

Sons of Tonatiuh was conceived on 4/25/08 in a ditch by the side of a dirt road. The concept behind SOT consists of recognizing where we as a human race came from, what it means to be immortal, and how important it is to understand the history of the native world.

Here's the breakdown.... Sons of Tonatiuh is currently composed of Dan (ex-Leechmilk), Mike (ex-Fell A Victim), Darby (Noble Rust/Whiskey Shit Vomit), and Tim. Back in Aug of '08 Mike Longoria (Withered) recorded our first four song demo. In March of '09 SOT did a 1 week tour up the East coast and then in Sept of '09 we did a 2 week tour out to the West coast and back. Between March 13-15th of 2010, we recorded 8 songs over at the Jam Room in Columbia SC with Jay Matheson behind the slaying board. Limited pressing of 500 12" vinyl has been released as of May 2010.

Whores are playing second.

Rock is dead. Indie rock has been taken over by hippie "collectives." Punk is a fucking joke anymore. Post-rock disappeared inside its own ass after Slint. The only relevant music nowadays is hip-hop and ring-tones. But we can't rap and no one ever calls us. So we started a noise rock band. Enjoy.

"Bearing witness to a WHORES show is like being crushed under the tread of a Panzer tank as it charges into battle." -Creative Loafing, Critics Pick: Best of Atlanta 2009 "Next to the stage was Whores, who—I’ll just come out and say it—are the best band in Atlanta right now. Don’t argue with me; just accept it. The trio’s mix of ferocious power, jaw-dropping technical precision, and rhythmic melodicism is just too ferocious, too talented, too goddamn awesome to be denied...It’s breathtaking just how loud and epically primal these guys are." -Latest Disgrace

The Unbeheld hail from Memphis, Tennessee. The guitar work really caught my ear on this one. Some pretty sweet blues playing, and then on the other hand, it goes right into some serious riffage. I like the singing, too. Nice chugga-chug-chug crunchy guitar goodness on the track 'Salt Liquor'. This band is alright in my book of sludgy/southern/stoner rock. I'm thinking that this band kicks ass live on stage.
