SCION presents the Pickle Patch tour on Thursday, June 23rd

SCION and Tight Bros present The Pickle Patch Tour at the Drunken Unicorn on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011.

Scanners are the headliner for this stop on the tour.

London’s dark pop quartet Scanners consists of singers/guitarists Sarah Daly and Matthew Mole, guitarist/keyboardist Amina Bates, and drummer Tom Hutt. The band began as the duo of Daly and Mole, who played their first gigs backed by a drum machine; Bates was one of the group’s first fans and soon joined their ranks. With the addition of Hutt, who had moved to London from the countryside shortly before hooking up with Scanners, the lineup was complete. After playing gigs with the Fever, Electric Six, and Juliette Lewis & the Licks, Scanners connected with Dim Mak, which signed the band. The “Lowlife” single was released in spring 2006 as a teaser for Scanners’ full-length debut, Violence Is Golden, which arrived that summer. The band returned in 2010 with Submarine, a more polished set of songs produced by produced by Stephen Hague (New Order, Peter Gabriel, Siouxsie and the Banshees).

AutoErotique are the third act of the evening.

Autoerotique stores electro, techno, house, Dutch house, Dutch-colonial house, rave, rock, rave-rock, indie-rock and even ska on speed dial and calls them up frequently. Their effortlessly protean, shape-shifting sound can careen wildly from project to project, so it’s not unexpected to hear them transform from Techno to, say, Norwegian black metal on the same record – thus, earning them the lazily au courant nick name “Autobots”. The ambiguously great duo’s Keith Robertson & David “Dave” Henderson were homegrown and shifted-into-shape within the multi-culti bustle of Toronto’s west end.

PeaceTreaty are the second performer of the evening.

PeaceTreaty was created in 2009 by producer Josh Anaya. In 2010 Josh teamed up with DJ Sam Hiller (Groove Radio) and talented multi-instrumentalist Angelo Patino to make PeaceTreaty a production trio!
