"I can't quite put my finger on why this video is so hypnotizing, but luckily YouTube offers this handy embed code so I can share it with you. Can you handle any more hand puns? I know, it's hard to write a response when you're giving me the finger, so just put that digit to work hitting play below and enjoy." - Michelle Gilzenrat / Flagpole

Qurious is not so much a band as it is a vessel. A vessel transports you into the dark far reaches of space and back, in an attempt to impart in their listeners a new-found, alien third-person perspective on the world and the infinite natural beauty that surrounds. Such a voyage is fueled through the production of ethereal musical landscapes constructed with hypnotizing vocal melodies, dance-inducing synthesizers, and found-samples gathered along the way. Your guides/abductors for this trek are a duo composed of one part singer/songwriter Catherine Quesenberry with a specialty in vocals, korg, and a secret weapon, and one part Mike Netland, engineer of samples, beats, and robo-phonetics. They’re coming to your planet, to your venues, to your homes. Their songs will draw you in like a sound-wave tractor beam. Don’t be scared though. They’re just Qurious.

"'To the Pleasant Life!" intones Pettis, sounding like Bowser if he was actually Charles Foster Kane, and Mario was this plumber that reminded him of the solitary despondency of wealth. But then Mario becomes a charity project, invited to "kick it" and get on a train like it was before sunrise on a bucket list. Juxtaposed with the mdma bubbles they're embedded in it comes off like a spirit guide on the world of tomorrow ride at epcot, layering gurgling synths on top of what sounds like a keytar if it were actually a guitar shaped like a korg. Just don't call him twee, he might cry a tear in the shape of a K." -Discount Coupon
